IT STARTED WITH THE FRESHEST INGREDIENTS

Geeta Samtani and her husband Beni created Geeta’s chutney in the early 90’s. Their time living in the Caribbean helped Geeta perfect the traditional recipe.

Using fruit from the abundant mango trees in their Caribbean home garden, that first mango chutney was born from a family recipe handed down through generations of their families.

THE WORD SPREAD ITSELF

After moving to London, Geeta's passion for cooking and fondness for sharing food with family and friends, led to word quickly spreading around her neighbourhood about her delightful chutneys.

Then a life changing moment happened when Geeta took her chutneys to a trade show in the UK, and, a buyer from a leading UK supermarket chain stopped to taste them.

It was now clear that Geeta's prized mango chutney had outgrown her London kitchen. Geeta and Beni needed to find somewhere to make the chutney but not compromise in any way its premium quality, unique flavour and texture. They needed to supply the supermarkets.

GROWING UP

The answer was obvious - India. Nowhere else could offer the same freshness of spices, the expertise to blend them and the very best mangoes around.

In 1993, Geeta's Premium Mango Chutney launched in UK
supermarkets in its iconic, hexagonal jars.

NEW BREAKTHROUGHS

With her extensive knowledge of Indian cooking techniques and love of authentic flavours, Geeta launched the innovative Spice & Stir cooking sauce range, giving fans of Indian cuisine an easy way to cook up a genuine Indian curry at home.

Soon demand was coming in from overseas, and Geeta’s began exporting across Europe, the Far East, the Middle East and USA. Now people all around the world enjoy Geeta's products.

To mark our 20th anniversary celebrations, Geeta was keen to develop a new look that would unequivocally distinguish itself as an authentic, leading Indian brand.

In 2013 the whole range was re-launched in bright and distinctive, Indian Turquoise. The vibrant new colour was applauded by fans and has enabled Geeta's to build a stronger identity and stand out better on the shelf.

THE ARRIVAL OF CURRY PASTE POUCHES

To round off our anniversary celebrations, Geeta's introduced a range of delicious Indian cooking pastes in pouches in popular flavours including Korma, Tikka and Madras.
